Fly Fishing Yellowstone Country A Basic Guide to Fly Fishing Yellowstone Park and Southern Montana eBook Walter Wiese
This is only the second book I have ever reviewed on Amazon, and I am writing this review to let everyone know what an awesome book this is. I have read every guidebook on Yellowstone that I could find. This e-book is the best guide to fishing in Yellowstone country that is out there and at a fraction of the cost of the others. I just read it all in one sitting on a Saturday afternoon. There is tons of practical information in this book without a lot of BS. The author tells you what you need to know, including very detailed information on hatches, flies, and fishing certain sections of the rivers during different parts of the year. He also tells you which parts of which rivers aren't worth your time. He is a working guide who is out on the rivers all the time and definitely knows what he is talking about. The book is very well written, and the author's clear and succinct writing style made me order his book of fishing stories, River Characters, which is available as a paperback in addition to an e-book. The only complaint that I have about this e-book is that it is not also available in paperback. I don't know why, but some publisher could make a lot of money by coming out with a paperback version. I am looking forward to the author's next book which is due out later this year.
If you are thinking about traveling to Yellowstone country to fish, do yourself a favor and buy this book. It will be the best $2.99 you ever spend.

Fly Fishing Yellowstone Country A Basic Guide to Fly Fishing Yellowstone Park and Southern Montana eBook Walter Wiese Reviews
Well written and easy to follow. Planning a trip to Yellowstone soon and feel more prepared after reading this book. I contine to refer to this book as it my hands on guide. Well done Walter Wiese, it is clearly written from your experience.
Terrific book on the Yellowstone area, and fly fishing the marvelous waters. The author is a guide, and works in a fly shop in Gardiner, MT. Clearly knows what he is talking about and shares it eloquently!
A ridiculously great bargain when it comes to researching and fishing SW Montana. For the price of a single shop-bought fly, you get a lifetime of knowledge of when, where, and how to fish some of the best water in the lower 48. Yes, this water is written about often, but where this book shines in particular is his knowledge historical runoff and how it affects hatches, water fish-ability, and trip timing. I live in SW Montana and will use this as a reference whenever I head out on the water. Just buy it.
Makes you want to grab your fly or tenkara rod and go. A wonderful book of styles, information, and techniques. Just waiting for some better weather, then going to take this title and go enjoy some wonderful country and great fishing.
This is a very good guide for those considering a trip to fish Yellowstone Park and SW Montana. Covers a lot of streams and lakes. Provides information that would only be available from a fishing guide/outfitter at a fraction of the cost. It is obvious the author regularly fishes the waters that are covered in this guide with success.
The information is detailed and practical.
However there are no maps included which diminished the usefulness of the book as a fishing guide.
This recently published book clearly identifies accessible, fishable waters by season, weather conditions and fly pattern. The access points are well described. The distances and degree of difficulty of hikes, wading and fishing are fully set forth. I think I'm ready to visit Yellowstone County after one last visit to the author's fly shop for up-to-the-minute advice on fishing conditions. If you're going to buy a guide, this is the one. Get the kindle version and download to your phone so you can carry it with you on the water.
